Impersonation is the sincerest form of...?

My 2006 DOR Submission Apparently, my art was nicked. Well, shamelessly copied at least. I have to admit the resemblance is striking. Not only is the layout exactly the same, they used most of the same text in the same exact font. The theme matches 2006's "every 'freak' was once someone's child" theme, compared to this year's posthumous soliloquy. I will refrain from commenting on the skill with which the latter was made. The thing that irks me about this is they signed...

Swat Girl

I was beginning to work myself into a depressive funk earlier this evening. I can't draw, I thought. Then something in me refused to accept this. I started up GIMP and started drawing. Two hours later I had this.I guess I can still draw,

A page-fed Demon

Over the last week I have bee devouring reading material. I suspect it isn't so much that I've become a voracious reader, but that my material has been shorter and easier to snack upon. I've done away with the first 9 volumes of the Claymore manga. While I enjoyed the anime, the last 3 episodes were terribly unsatisfying. It happened near the end of the War in the North arc -- exactly where it diverged from a what had been a faithful following of the manga. Sadly, my loaned supply of books...

Her Campaign of Disinformation

Ahhh, Charlotte, North Carolina. The only town I've been to where you get two Bibles and a Book of Mormon in each hotel room.If I'd had a sense of humor, I'd leave a copy of the Principia Discordia behind when I leave. Maybe I'll leave it by the toilet, it seems the most appropriate place to read it.

Evading the Question

I read today on a friend's blog that yesterday Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the Enola Gay died. The entry was short and scathing. When I first read it I wondered, Is this really called for? It catches me the way some documentaries are movies catch me about when they exhibit a particular opinion. Shortly thereafter, I was reading the man's Wikipedia entry. Unsurprisingly, the page was not only flagged for recent changes, but also locked to prevent vandalism. Most of the details about him were...

"And to fly on charred, paper wings..."

I have been meaning to post an entry for over a week now. Whenever I've tried, however, I've always been thwarted by something. It could be lack of time, lack of energy, or simple fear of writing anything publicly at all. I had tried writing something last night as a matter of fact. I certainly had time to write last night. I also had more than sufficient energy. Yet, each time I made the attempt, I failed spectacularly. The preponderance of the evening was the current status of Paper Girl. I...

The #43

For the record, I do regret having to cancel any possible trip to the UK next year. When I had gone the first time, I had taken on the attitude that this would be the one and only opportunity I would have to do so. Every time I visited an ATM, every time I paid a bill that I had to mentally multiple by 200%, I told myself this. In the end, the total monetary cost of the trip was some $1000 including airfare. While that doesn't seem like much, $1000 becomes an awful lot of money when you're...

Jewelry and a Movie: 3 Chokers for $10

A Finished ChokerChokers are a hold over from Victorian fashion. While they aren't commonly worn by women today, they are still a much sought-after accessory for those with archaic tastes. The problem is that they are difficult to find in mainstream stores today. Furthermore, what I have found has been limited in style as well as the available sizes. To my disappointment -- as well as my general rage at the anorexic bent of USian fashion -- I couldn't find one in my size.Thankfully, chokers aren't...

Deni-chan is a Cold Weather Girl

Deni-chan (the deninet.com webserver) was down today since early this morning. Being that I was at work, I was unable to get back to the glowing blue box on my living room floor and figure out what was wrong. I had hoped she just needed a restart, but it wasn't so simple. When she came back up, her main documents drive, the one housing virtually all the data on the server, refused to mount. I had feared that drive had failed completely. When I finally tore away the IDE and power cables, her stack of...
